Despite the massive closure of businesses under the lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak there are still people who have to go to work every day, those engaged in essential industries, such as medical, logistics and food. It means that every day those people expose themselves to the risk of getting infected and/or transmission of the virus to others if they are already latently infected but don’t have any symptoms yet.
The identification of infection cases at an early stage in such industries is therefore of absolute importance and is critical in “flattening the curve”. We now know that the coronavirus has two distinctive symptoms: cough and, importantly, high body temperature. An effective solution for this problem is the use of technologically advanced thermal cameras capable of taking the body temperature of an individual on entering the building (e.g. factory) and alerting the central administration of any individuals with fever or abnormal temperature.
Dahua (provider of security products and services) has recently released its new product series - Thermographic Cameras. The integrated advanced detectors and algorithms in these cameras help detect the skin-surface temperature and can therefore be used for rapid people screening in public places in an non-intrusive way. The cameras’ margin of error is ±0.3°C
